As I am on vacation in the States currently, I received a phone call earlier today and was told some really sad, disturbing news about something that occurred sometime last night...
Hightops, our dearly beloved Giraffe, has become blind.
Apparently some dumb nitwit took my stuffy down off the shelf he was on that I secured for him during my vacation, and my dog, Raven, apparently remembering the occasions I let her carry him around and snuggle with him, decided that his eyes were the perfect chew toy, and removed both of them.
Now that poor giraffe will never get a date!
Unless you know any cute, hooved femmes that are into blind guys with long necks.
DON'T BE DECEIVED. SHE'S SECRETLY PLOTTING HER EVIL GENIUS RIGHT THAR IN THAT THAR PICTURE. I KNEW IT. I knew it... :'(

Onto Some REAL News...
You may know from my previous rantings, but we've been forced to look for a new place to live due to some changes in our "landlord's" life. This search ended this afternoon. The more important topic of the conversation I was alerted to Hightops ailment was that, indeed, we have just made an offer on a house, and it was accepted.
So, when I return home, things are going to be VERY dicey for me. I will not have internet for some time, though hopefully not TOO long, although I will be very busy at first working on some necessary renovations -- since no house is perfect, especially not this one. Once things have cooled off sealing the deal and handing our souls off to the devil of home ownership, we've decided we'll be getting married. My mom is going to be finishing my wedding dress before I leave back for the States, so I'll be able to have a simple wedding sometime when I get back for Shawn's side of the family.
In October, over the weekend of my sister's wedding, not only am I going to be bridesmaid (eee!), my sister, being as awesome and loving as she is, suggested that while the whole family is together, I do a small 'blessing of vows' ceremony as a kind of 'wedding' for my side of the family, which will mean I don't have to plan something altogether seperate of my own -- which is a HUGE stress relief. Like. Huge. And I was surprised to learn that Shawn thinks this is a really good idea as well, so... !
So, all in all: I'll have a house, I'm going to be Mrs. Liesl Herman (oy, that's going to be hard to get used to), and will become a Permanent Canadian Resident, all within the next few months! EICH!

Thank you! Hopefully it goes over as smoothly as it can... Luckily the housing market is actually in kind of a nice place for buyers, and I'm guessing the Canadian banks haven't gotten hit quite as hard, as my SO was able to get a mortgage no problem... At least, that's what I'm assuming.
Poor Hightops! You could get him some -new- eyes? Pick the color too... or some felt sunglasses! Then he could look like a cool dude and all the ladies would want him. B)

Hehe! I'll figure out something... Might do buttons, might do oogly eyes, might just make him a double eyepatch and buy him a parrot, and have him just kidnap teh ladies like a pirate. Arrr! XD I'll have to see the extent of the damage when I get home...
